I've been through this one at least a dozen times already & I just can't get the katamari big enough. Has anyone here found the perfect path to take on this level?

Re: Trouble with "Make a Star 7"
Fri, September 9, 2005 - 3:53 PMThe king wants it "around a plump 6m" but the best I could manage so far is just under 5m. The earlier Make a Star levels were a relative breeze compared to this one. Number 7 is a lot more wide open & has some big patches of ground covered with only tiny groupings of small objects. I usually follow the trail of bananas around the park & over the little bridge over the pond & then head for the beach. I usually head uphill to the city after that because my katamari isn't big enough at that point to break down the gates of the small circular park by the beach.
Thanks, ubiquitous. -

Re: Trouble with "Make a Star 7"
Fri, September 9, 2005 - 4:31 PMNo prob...
skip the beach for a minute and roll up int the town after you've reached about 1m... roll around in the town, being careful of the traffic... when you get big enough to roll through the gate at the top of the small town (up the rampway... you should be about 3 or 4 m, i think ...you'll pick up a good chunk of size in the fenced off schoolyard picking up the balls and the kids on the school PE court) there which will let you roll through the gap in the schoolyard wall and pick up the sumo wrestlers on the gas station roof and then you can roll back down into the park, pick up plenty of the bigger stiuff there and then roll up much of the amusement park.
(if i'm thinking of the right level, that is) -

Re: Trouble with "Make a Star 7"
Sat, September 10, 2005 - 4:12 PMYep, that's the right level. I just found the shortcut up to the town by approaching it from the water rather than dashing up the hill. -

Re: Trouble with "Make a Star 7"
Mon, September 12, 2005 - 9:42 AMactually, i should revise that a little...
roll up the bananas as usual, and once you've gotten those... do continue picking up the other small stuff in the area until you've gotten up to about 1m and roll off into the sea from the little pond
roll up to the area where there are a buch of fish laying on the sidewalk and a few people fishing off the seaside just downhill from the small town/neighborhood and the little farm where the chickens are
roll up the hill from the farm and into the lower town and pick up every object you can manage, being careful of the traffic...
when you get a little over 2m, you can hop the schoolyard gate and get yourself into the 3m range where the king will point out the opening into the larger, upper town
guardrails shrubs and people are gonna get you close and then you can pick up some of the larger objects in the upper city or you can flop back down from one side of the hill into the amusement park area or keep hunting bigger stuff to roll
(the secon beach that you can get to from the upper town has some good stuff stacked up to kick your diameter up a little more too)
I started over last night to try it from scratch, but i'll have to look for my other memory card to see what my best time and size for star 7 were
hope that helps. -
